46th annual Chamber Banquet is in the books

The 46th Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet is in the books.

I want to congratulate Linda Carr on her well-deserving Hall of Fame induction. Her son, Noel, did a nice job speaking about his mother. Linda said it was one of her most memorable evenings of her life.

Also, thank you to the Working on Walnut Committee (WOW) for a well done presentation on what they have accomplished the past year, plus future goals for the committee. A few weeks ago I listed all the things that were accomplished by WOW since their first year of forming and it is an impressive list. WOW was this year’s Making a Difference Award winner.

I want to thank Dan and Lisa and staff for doing a great job with the meal, the service and for letting us hold the event at their restaurant. I also want to thank all those who attended the Banquet. It was a wonderful evening.

At the Banquet, we started selling Taste of Walnut tickets. The date is finally set for Saturday, May 5th. Cost is $15 per person if you buy in advance ($20 at the door), $5 for children ages 3-10 and under 3 is free. It helps us a lot if you buy the tickets in advance so we can tell the restaurants the number to prepare for. This is a rare opportunity to eat at Mama T’s, Walnut Cafe, Walnut Shell, Avanti Foods, Green River Country Club, Walnut Acres Country Store and Konz Restaurant & Lounge in one sitting. The meal will be served from the Community Building from 4-7 p.m. with hopes we can have some dining availability outside.

Speaking of Shell, they are now serving ice cream again. Stop in and get some ice cream after filling your tank up with gas!

This Saturday is the Spring Fling Vendor Show at the Community Building from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come and support local crafters and vendors.

The Sunset Ridge Motorcross Season Opener is April 22nd. Make sure you visit Sunset Ridge this summer.

May 4th and 5th will be the Spring Townwide Garage Sales. Mark your calendars.

Shop Walnut this week!
