Chamber Corner: Shop Small
As I sit here skimming the news before writing this column, I can’t help but think of our small businesses in town.
Other health regions in our state are being handed new restrictions because of their COVID positivity rate. Our region is right on the brink of being next.
I talk a lot about shopping local and shopping Walnut and I can’t say it enough. Our businesses need our support.
This holiday season, you really can buy a lot right here in town, whether that’s for Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas presents.
All of our retail offers something unique. Whether that’s clothing or accessories from The Embroidery Shop, gift items from Avanti’s, clothing or products from our salons, a variety of BRAND NEW and well maintained items at Pass the Love, a gym membership at Main Street Motivation, decor from the grocery store, tools from the Hardware Store, car care items at Fisch Motors, toys at Dollar General, or keeping it simple with gift cards.
Speaking of Christmas, we will be announcing our Christmas Open House activities on December 5th soon. The event is still on with safe measures that will be put in place. Also, make sure you consider decorating your home this Christmas as WOW will be handing out prizes to the top three homes in town. Top home will receive $250! Winners will be announced December 21st.
You may have seen the drop boxes at the Village Office, Post Office and Shell. If you want to be included in the new Walnut Telephone Directory you can drop your name, address and phone number in those boxes. We also have an online form on the home page at walnutillinois.com. It really takes less than 30 seconds to fill out! Directories will be available in early 2021.
Have a great week and shop Walnut whenever you can!
