Chamber Corner: Fall Fest, Queen of Hearts Drawing, Christmas Open House

The sudden turn to Fall weather seems appropriate as plans and preparations for Fall Fest on Main are being finalized. We are less than two weeks away!

Check today’s Walnut Leader for a handful of articles about Fall Fest events on Friday and Saturday. We’ve added a Pie Baking Contest and Paintball for the older kids this year and are bringing back all of the popular events from year’s past.

You asked for more food options and we are doing that with some local food vendors from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. as well as the Rotary Club cooking out from 4-8 p.m.

A majority of the events will be held right on Main Street between Atherton’s Parking Lot and across the Street around the Veteran’s Memorial and Avanti Gazebo. But, keeping with the Main Street theme, you can also find Wild Times Exotic Animals from 12-2 and Bingo from 4-6 at the Community Building as well as Xtreme Crossfire Paintball from 2-4 p.m. at the W Field.

Don’t forget to walk up and down Main Street as well and visit our local dining options as well as stores. A pop-up shop will also be open at the Main Street Revitalization Buildings.

Make sure you take your Scarecrow Contest entries to Citizens First State Bank!

It’s going to be a weekend!

I hear the Mattress Fundraiser did well again, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Park Trail! Thank you to all who purchased mattresses and pillows to support that project.

As I type this the Green River Country Club Queen of Hearts drawing jackpot is over $10,000. If the winner doesn’t get pulled on Friday night be sure to purchase your tickets!

Looking ahead, mark your calendars for Saturday, November 24th. It will be Walnut’s Christmas Open House and also Small Business Saturday. Believe it or not, it’s not that far away!

Have a great week and shop Walnut!
