Chamber Corner: Walnut Days is quickly approaching

Hard to believe but we are less than three weeks away from Walnut Days.

The committee has been working hard planning for another great Celebration. I know volunteer opportunities are out there if you want to get involved.

As far as Chamber events that weekend, Sandy Green is looking for some helpers to serve at the Chamber of Commerce Chicken/Fish Fry on Friday and Sunday. We could also use a couple of referees for the 3-on-3 tournament on Saturday morning (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.). You can contact me or Dean Hulsing if interested in being a ref (you get a free shirt!).

They are also looking for bucket donation collectors for Saturday during the Parade and Sunday before the fireworks. Contact Tami Huseman, Danielle Wallace, or Verna Rollo to find out shift times available. Donations are vital to making this celebration great year in and year out and helping out in this capacity is greatly appreciated.

In other news, the Walnut Chamber will meet this Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Konz. You are welcome to attend our meeting and to see what we are up to. Fall Fest on Main planning is slowly getting underway if you want to help out in anyway with that event.

The Local Improvements Committee is also hosting a Town Hall meeting Monday night, June 11th at 7 pm. This is an open meeting for the public to share their thoughts and questions on the Fritz Building demolition that will be happening soon. Try and attend if you can. The committee has put a lot of work in and values the thoughts of our citizens.

I can’t stress enough to support Walnut businesses and what the town has to offer. You really can get a lot of your business done in town: two gas stations, dining, hardware store, public library, hair dressers, grocery shopping, golf, two medical clinics, car repair, buy a used/new car, start a home remodeling project, and the list goes on. Shop Walnut whenever you can.
