Fall Fest on Main building excitement

As I write this Corner this morning, I am preparing for a seminar at Sauk Valley College, that will prepare people to write Grants to help the local community. This is an exploratory meeting to see if local projects can propel themselves toward monies that are readily available. These Grants help the Village with improvement projects for the town and its future. Should be interesting, both during the exploratory and after. Stay tuned. Then tonight off to a River Bandit Game with the Walnut Rotary Club and some of its fine members. This will be a fun evening under the stars, watching minor league baseball, maybe a local craft beer, and watching people. Dylan too. Fun does not stop there, Saturday off to Green Lake with Joe and Carol. Very blessed to have the invitation to go see how the “Lake People” live. Very much looking forward to this, who knows, this could be a recon mission for the future. We can only hope, its more than time.

So, the Chamber met Tuesday night at Konz restaurant. Good participation, good service, good pizza, good meeting. The majority of the meeting was focused on the upcoming “Walnut Fall Fest on Main”. How do you like that name? Pretty catchy huh? As most of you know, this is the work of many people within the Chamber, business members and individuals as well. The entire celebration / kick off is coming together nicely. It is so very rewarding to have talented, pride in Walnut people working to make all of this happen, and make it happen well. Sponsors are providing the majority of the needs for the festival, both monetary as well as putting their backs into it. One comment the other night, is we are hearing from people that want to help, who do they contact. That question was addressed as follows; Janis McDonald has graciously offered to fill rosters for volunteers. Janis can be contacted at 815-379-2364, or E-mail to wjmac5@yahoo.com . There are many assignments that need filled, come join in to help make this a success. Again, this is going to be a family event with lots of fun things to do as well as entertainment, food, and activities for all. More to come.

Time to get started on the day. We welcome a new Chamber Member this week. Mama T’s has joined the Chamber member ranks, and we welcome this business. If you don’t know, Mama T’s is located on Rt 92 on the West side of Walnut. They serve not only the best of desserts, but a very good line up of entrees and sandwiches. Stop down and see the menu, and order a treat. Thank you Tonya and crew, for joining the Walnut Chamber. Have a great week people, call Janis and offer to help with Festival! Thanks for all of your efforts, shop Walnut whenever you can.
