Spring is Here!

A beautiful Spring morning to get the day started. I believe Spring is truly the best time of year. The anticipation of new life, be it the new flowers and gardens, or new baby calves coming into the world. We do not have many cow calf herds in our area. If you want to show your children new calves that have come into the world, drive by the Jeannine Griffith farm South East of Walnut. Jeannine and tenant

Ralph DeWaele have a very nice herd of black cows, with lots of new babies. Do you and your kids a favor, and drive by and see Mother Nature at her best. Stop into Stuff and Such, and ask Jeannine about her cow herd, and see what new crafts are available at the store.

We now have beginning dates for the 2016 Farmers Market. Robin Ackerson and Robin Jameson have taken the leadership role for this year. Robin has told me the market will be offered on Wednesday afternoon from 2 – 6PM. Proposed beginning date is Wednesday May 4, depending on weather permitting. If you are interested in being a vendor, contact Robin Ackerson 815-994-1285, or Robin Jameson 815-343-3936. There is a Facebook page available as well to view. Go to facebook.com/Growwalnut. The ladies will keep it up to date and informative.

The April Walnut Chamber meeting is tomorrow night Tuesday April 19, 7PM at Konz. Brent Jamison, our new Admin assistant, will be at the meeting, getting started on his new position. We will be discussing Spring events and different things going on around town. The yearly election of board and officers will be Tuesday evening as well. The Chamber welcomes participation from all members, and encourages your help. Please plan on attending Tuesday night.

Earth Day is this coming Friday, April 22nd. Plant a tree, or at least do something nice for Mother Earth. Have a good week people, shop Walnut whenever you can.
