Chamber Corner: Membership, Banquet, Fundraisers

We had our first Chamber meeting of 2020 last Tuesday and a lot was discussed!

By the end of this month you will be receiving a letter to renew your Chamber membership whether you are an individual/couple or business. If you don't receive a letter, we would love to have you join the Chamber! Membership is critical in keeping the Chamber active and promoting our businesses and town. A few things your membership does: it helps offset the cost of running Walnut's Facebook page and website walnutillinois.com, hand out Business Improvement Grant's to our Chamber members each year, host a Christmas Open House weekend at no cost to the public, promote the different activities through town via digital and print marketing, host our annual events at Walnut Days and Fall Fest on Main, and much more!

If you want to become a Chamber member this year for the first time, please contact me at director@walnutillinois.com or 815-866-9352.

We also discussed our Annual Chamber Banquet that will take place on Monday, March 30th with a location to be determined. We are currently in discussions with a guest speaker and making arrangements on all the little details that make this event happen each year.

In your Leader today, you will also see an ad for this year's Hall of Fame inductions. We are seeking nominations from the public of individuals you feel are worthy of being considered. Nominations must be submitted by February 6.

Also in your Leader today we have an ad for sub sandwiches that we are selling for Super Sunday! It's been a couple of years since an organization has sold subs and it's always been a big hit. Cost will be $3.50 for a loaf of bread, $7 for a sub and $9 for a super sub with twice the meat. All ingredients for these subs are purchased locally.

We will also be holding a Fish Fry on Friday, March 13th at the Walnut Community Building. More details coming but mark that date on your calendars!

Lots going on and we couldn't be more excited for what 2020 will bring. A new year with new opportunities to help around Walnut!

Have a great week and shop Walnut!
