A great night at the Chamber Banquet

Last Monday, our annual Chamber Banquet was held at Konz Restaurant & Lounge. It really was an overall great evening with heartfelt speeches for our Hall of Fame inductees, a Keynote address and Q&A from our State Senator Chuck Weaver, and an encouraging WOW update from our Making a Difference winner, Josh Egan.

I want to thank Dan and Lisa Koning and staff for hosting and preparing a great meal and everyone that attended for your continued support of the Chamber. Due to your support of last year’s Fall Fest on Main we were able to present a $3,000 check at the Banquet to the Blue Raider Foundation for the upcoming Walking/Bike Trail coming to Walnut. We have plans to make a second significant donation to another worthwhile project in the future.

Personally, the Banquet is always a great time to reflect on the past year and also get excited about the future of Walnut. In my opening remarks, I shared a pretty extensive list of businesses that either opened, made improvements or had positive changes in the past year. Add in the new businesses that have come to town in the past two years and I say let’s keep the positive momentum going in 2019.

I mentioned in last week’s Corner that Shell had begun serving ice cream again. Well, this past week Mama T’s also opened for the season. Bring on the warmer weather!

Our membership drive is nearly wrapped up. If you haven’t renewed or wanted to become a new member to the Chamber, please let me know. We have business and individual membership opportunities.

As always, make sure to shop Walnut whenever you can this week!
