Chamber Corner: Membership, Hall of Fame, Upcoming Banquet

Lots going on right now with the Chamber of Commerce.

This past week membership letters were sent out to individuals and businesses. We hope you consider renewing your membership or consider joining the Chamber as a business or individual.

I’ll share part of the letter that went out:

“The Walnut Chamber of Commerce continues to be active in our community. We are continuing to implement and look for new ways to promote Walnut and what it has to offer. Progress has been made throughout town, including our Main Street, but there is still a lot of work to be done. In 2019, the Chamber will not only continue to promote Walnut and its business climate, but invite all members to be active in the Chamber. It takes the entire village and all Chamber members to continue our progress. With your help and support, we will be able to achieve more of our goals. Our Chamber mission continues as follows: To take a leadership role in promoting Walnut through active civic participation to enhance the community’s economic well-being and improve the business climate.”

Your membership allows us to hand out Business Improvement Grants, to run and maintain our community website, to promote Walnut and it’s businesses through social media, to have events like Fall Fest on Main and Walnut’s Christmas Open House Weekend, to put out a new telephone directory this year, to promote the Walnut Garage Sale weekends, plus much more.

On that note, as I’ve said in the past, if a business wants to specifically have something promoted through social media, please e-mail me anytime at director@walnutillinois.com.

We have received several Hall of Fame nominations so far and we appreciate each one that has taken the time to submit one. Keep them coming.

A reminder the Annual Chamber Banquet will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Konz Restaurant & Lounge. Cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple. We look forward to having State Senator Chuck Weaver join us that evening. Let me know if you would like tickets.

Remember to shop Walnut this week.
