Chamber Corner: Cash Mob, Circus, Fall Fest on Main, Garage Sales

July 16, 2018

I was telling my kids this past week that school is right around the corner. Back-to-school supplies are out and summer baseball/softball games are finishing up. Still five weeks away from the start date but it won’t be long!

On that note, the WOW Retail & Dining Committee will be holding another Cash Mob with a “back-to-school” theme on Saturday, August 11th. This Cash Mob will be slightly different as the rules have changed to committing to spending at least $10 instead of $20 (feel free to spend as much as you want, however). Another opportunity to support a local business. More information coming.

A couple of fun announcements to make. The Walnut Chamber has two big events coming up soon.

The first is the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will be coming to town! The circus will be here Wednesday, August 29th and will have two shows (5:00 and 7:30). It’s been awhile since the circus was in Walnut and it will be a fun night for family and friends. Lots of information coming, but make sure to mark that date on your calendars.

The second announcement is Fall Fest on Main will be held on Saturday, October 6th. Planning is well underway. Bands are booked. Events are being planned. It’s going to be another weekend of fun for the family. Tons of information coming soon, including posters, brochures and a website for the event. We can’t wait.

One last date to mark down is September 14th and 15th. That will be the Townwide Garage Sales weekend, plus a Mattress Sale at the Community Building benefiting the proposal Park Trail for Walnut. The first Mattress Sale was a huge success, let’s make this one very successful too.

One thing to note as I close. If you patronize any of the events mentioned above you are also giving back to the Community. Funds from all those events mentioned are going right back into making Walnut a better place to live. In the meantime, shop Walnut whenever you can.
