Chamber Corner: Pass It Along, Christmas Open House & Clausen Benefits
Have you shopped at the new Pass it Along store yet? Last Wednesday was the grand opening and they are open on Wednesday’s (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Friday’s (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Saturday’s (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.). It’s really amazing seeing the transformation of that store. In just over a month, the store was completely renovated into the new Pass it Along. The Main Street Renovation group spearheaded the effort and if you see a member of that group thank them for their efforts. Their motto is “One Project at a Time”. I can’t wait to see what’s next. We had a Chamber meeting on Wednesday to discuss Fall Fest on Main, the upcoming Christmas weekend, among other things. We have decided that Walnut’s Christmas weekend will be just one day of activities on Saturday, November 25th. Plan on being around Walnut that day for a day full of fun for the family. There will be a pancake breakfast, hayrack rides, a vendor show, a chance to meet Santa, face painting, a family scavenger hunt at area businesses, bingo and the Christmas tree lighting. Lots more information to come. That evening, after cooking all morning on Thursday, plan to eat at one of our local restaurants. Also, look for specials from businesses on that day. There is a benefit for Caleb Clausen family on Saturday, November 4th at Green River Country Club. It will take place from 4-8 p.m. and will include a taco bar, bake sale, 50/50, and silent and live auction. The American Legion will also be holding a Chicken Fry for the Clausen Family on Thursday, November 9th. Cost is $8 and all proceeds go to the family. Carry-outs area available. The Walnut Acres Country Store will be opening soon and the excitement continues to build. The store will be selling baked goods from Folsom’s Bakery out of Rock Falls and HoneyGirl honey from Fulton. I love seeing the opportunity to support local businesses. One last thing, have you stopped in one of our salon’s lately? You’d be surprised how much each store offers besides just hair services. Stop in and look at the products they offer.
