Chamber Corner: Fall Fest on Main Week is Here!
After months of preparing and planning, Fall Fest on Main is here. The Walnut Chamber of Commerce has put a lot of hours in to get ready for the festival, but I can tell you from last year’s experience all those hours are worth it when you see everyone smiling and having a good time. I have to thank the Chamber Board, the Fall Fest Committee, the sponsors and the volunteers who make this event happen. Plan on attending the first ever Chili Cook-off on Friday night. There is no cost to enter your favorite chili recipe. Votes will be tallied by chili tasters and great prizes will be awarded to the top vote getters. Cost to sample all the chili is only $5 and gives you tickets to vote for your favorite. First place chili gets $100 and a trophy made by Greg Wallace. Second place is $50. On Saturday, everything begins at 11 a.m. with the Fall Fest on Main Run/Walk to the water tower and back. Wear a costume! Prizes will be awarded for best costumes! At 12 p.m. a lot of activities begin with the Fire Department Open House, Kids Activities, Wild Times Exotic Animals, Vendor Show, and free Boggio’s Donuts and Cider from The First Christian Church. 50/50 tickets are on sale at the following businesses this week: Shell, Pit Stop, Citizen’s First State Bank, Roots, Jan’s Beauty Shop, Walnut Public Library, The Walnut Leader, Ag View, Walnut Hardware and Heritage Health. Let’s build the pot up so someone is a big winner and the community benefits for future projects! If you haven't created a Scarecrow for the Scarecrow Contest it is not too late. Get your organization, business or family together and get creative! Turn your scarecrow in at the Walnut Library to be displayed this week in their front window. Entries will be accepted until the morning of Fall Fest on Main. Prizes for the top 3 entries! I cannot wait for Saturday and I hope to see you there!
