Chamber Corner: New Businesses in Town, After Hours, Fall Fest on Main, Garage Sales

Hard to believe but school is back in session this week. We really have some great teachers in the Bureau Valley School District and good luck to the students in their academics. I want to wish everyone a successful school year for the 2017-18.

Lots going on around Walnut. I'm excited to announce we had two new businesses open this past week.

The first is the The Embroidery Shop, owned by Jeff Ellis and Denise Frank, is located at 605 West North Street. The Embroidery Shop offers custom monograms, heat press t-shirts, window decals, and patches and badges. Keep your orders in town now!

The other business is Roots Hair Salon on Main Street. Roots, owned by Hannah Cadwell, is taking hair appointments now and is also offering nails services. They held an Open House this past Friday that was well attended.

The Chamber of Commerce is hosting Business After Hours this Thursday at Green River Country Club from 4:30-6:00 p.m. This is offered to Chamber members and their employees. This is a great time to network with fellow Walnut workers. Doorprizes will be awarded. This will be a quarterly event.

The Fall Fest on Main Committee met this past week and progress is being made for the second annual event. The music line-up is now finalized and details of the event are being worked on everyday. The official event announcement, with activities and schedule, will be released on Friday, August 25th. I can't wait to share it with you.

Townwide Garage Sales are coming up on Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16. Start making plans to clean out your garages and basement and have a sale. Also, in conjunction with Garage Sales, former Walnut resident Randy Gonigam will be bringing his Essential Bed mattresses to the Community Building. The sale will be a fundraiser for Main Street Renovations and will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
